The geometry in the Avenues of Delight Quilt pattern can play tricks with your eyes. The quilt uses the City Streets quilt block, which has horizontal and vertical lines that together create the dominant pattern. However, the centers and corners of the quilt blocks make diagonal patterns that catch your eye as well. This geometry makes for an intricately beautiful design. The Avenues of Delight Quilt pattern uses the City Streets quilt block.

To make the Avenues of Delight Quilt:

Make 30 blocks, and stitch them together in 6 rows of 5 blocks. Add border. Finished size is about 49 x 58 inches.

Cut:

A: Cut 8, and cut 8 from contrasting fabric. B-I: Cut 4 each.

The City Streets quilt block has a strong geometrical pattern.

Stitch:

Stitch A to contrast A; make 2. Stitch AA to AA, matching unlike fabrics (4-patch). Stitch 4-patch to B, then stitch on C. Continue adding strips, D, then E; F, then G; H, then I, as shown on pattern. Make 4 squares, and sew them together with 4-patches in outer corners.
