Sponge Flower Art
If you thought sponges were only for cleaning up messes, you're in for a surprise with this colorful sponge flower art project.
What You'll Need:
- Construction paper
- Pencil
- Blunt scissors
- Craft glue
- Heavyweight paper
- Newspaper
- Poster paints
- Paper plates
- Sponge
Step 1: Fold a piece of construction paper in half. Draw half of a vase shape at the fold.
Step 2: Cut along the lines of the shape, and unfold the paper. Glue the vase shape on a piece of heavyweight paper.
Step 3: Cover your work surface with newspaper. Place poster paints on paper plates. Dip a damp sponge in the paint, and then sponge paint "flowers" on the paper above the vase.
Step 4: Twist the sponge to create swirled flowers, or press the sponge on the paper for stamped flowers.
You can use this technique to make a bowl of sponged fruit, a tree with sponged leaves, or a cornucopia with sponged vegetables.
