Dry Soil Perennials

©2007 Publications International, Ltd. Yarrow is a dry soil perennial. It also does well in average soil. See more pictures of perennial flowers.

Many people mistake dry soil to mean their perennials don't need water. Unfortunately, there isn't a plant that can survive without water. There are some dry soil perennials that can live in a drier climate, but you will still need to water these plants if you want to keep them alive.

On this page, we've included a list of dry soil perennials. These plants can live in dry soil and average soil, so if you're not quite sure if your garden soil is dry or not, it may be best to play it safe and select a perennial below. Be sure to check with your local garden center to ensure these perennials can grow well in your area.
