Mother Earth News shows us how to build a desk with 15-square feet of space, plus an optional shelf underneath for stashing computer equipment or books. All you need are some basic tools, lumber, and a discarded hollow-core interior door that you've lovingly sanded smooth.

A major upside with this desk is the fact that it can be folded flat and stored, simply by lifting the desktop off the skirt and removing a bolt from the long skirt side on each corner. You can then use the remaining bolt to serve as a pivot point and collapse the legs inward. Now you see it, now you don't. ::Mother Earth News
