I recently started revamping my apartment. To be fair, I do this regularly, but I've been a whole lot more thorough this time around. As with any revamping process, you realize while in it that you've got a lot of things lying around your home that you may not need or ever use. I had totally forgotten that I had an old Scrabble set under one of my couches, for instance. I looked at it when I pulled it out, covered with dust, unsure of what to do with it. The idea of getting rid of it really pained me because it was the Scrabble board that my family grew up with. I remember countless games oriented around that one board when I was a child.
I sat down and thought about what to do with it and I came up with something that I'm really happy with.
Here's what I did, and you can do it, too!
I picked out a phrase to spell out on the board with the letter pieces (after cleaning it up, of course). I made sure that I could find a way for my phrase to connect in the same way the Scrabble words have to connect. The phrase that I chose was "Actions speak louder than words". Not only is this a phrase I live by, but it was also a play on the game itself, involving the mention of 'words.' I glued the pieces down in place on the board and hung the board itself up on my wall in my living room.
This makes for a totally unique and meaningful wall piece and nothing had to go to waste!
