Tap'dNY is a New York City bottled water company with a local twist and knack for honesty. They say: "We don't travel the world from Fiji to France seeking water or offer the usual bottled water gimmicks. We work with NYC's public water system to source the world's best tasting tap water, purify it through reverse osmosis and bottle it locally, leaving out ludicrous transportation miles." They also say: "Year after year, bottled water companies have told us that their water was somehow healthier or better for us than our own water. They spent billions of dollars on marketing to make us believe that we needed exotic water, in sleek packaging, from far away Arctic glaciers, tropical islands, and European volcanoes."

While the tap vs. bottle debate rages on, the 2005 findings of the Environmental Working Group (EWG) can't be ignored. They found that tap water in 42 states is "contaminated with more than 140 unregulated chemicals that lack safety standards. In an analysis of more than 22 million tap water quality tests, most of which were required under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act, EWG found that water suppliers across the U.S. detected 260 contaminants in water served to the public. One hundred forty-one (141) of these detected chemicals—more than half—are unregulated; public health officials have not set safety standards for these chemicals, even though millions drink them every day."

Tap that.
