Electric razors are a green way to shave. They are not as green as a straight razor, cause they use electricity and create some trash, but they don't generate the trash-boatload that disposable razors do. Another thing that the straight razor has over the electric razor is that the straight razor isn't likely to break down. You can increase the greenness of your electric shaver by keeping it in tip-top shape. Here are some tips!

1. Clean the Razor After Use

Make sure to clean the razor thoroughly after every use. If the razor gets gummed up by excess hairs, it will put a strain on your on electric razor and cause it to break down faster. There are lubricants and degreasers specifically made for electric razors.

4. Get a Warranty

I know. I know. I often get in the bad habit of throwing out warranties when I buy electronics. Take a little extra time to fill out the warranty. It might cost you a few bucks, but if your razor breaks down, you can send the company your old razor, and they'll either fix it or replace it. Even if they can't fix it, they can cannibalize the parts from the bum razor. That's a good way to cut down on waste.

5. Replace Foil and Cutter

It is said that this needs to be done about once a year.
